Located in Algonquin, this through girder bridge once crossed La Fox River Drive.
Built in 1929, the bridge featured a single through plate girder span, set onto concrete substructures.
This type of span is relatively common along railroads, as it was durable and easy to construct.
In 2020, the bridge was replaced by a new prefabricated pedestrian bridge. Little alteration had occurred to the bridge prior to this. It is believed the replacement may have been related to the low clearance of the bridge.
Overall, the bridge appeared to be in good condition, with no serious deterioration noted.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
